Changes to the Daily Check Health Assessment

Jan. 31, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

In September, we shared information about the New York Health and Essential Rights Act, known as the NY HERO Act. At that time, we determined that all employees were required to complete the Daily Check health assessment each day prior to arriving on campus or accessing Cornell facilities. We are happy to announce that we are revising this process. All employees will continue to get a daily email reminding you to conduct a symptom assessment; however, you will only need to complete the Daily Check health assessment if you are experiencing symptoms suggestive of COVID-19.

This change only applies to the health assessment portion of the Daily Check. Employees will continue to use the Daily Check to upload proof of booster vaccination, schedule supplemental tests, view their surveillance testing schedule if applicable, self-report positive tests and access other important information.

As announced last week, all faculty, staff and students who are experiencing mild to moderate symptoms can pick up a Symptomatic Test Kit at the Tower Rd traffic booth near Stocking Hall (drive-up only) or the Campus Rd traffic booth near Carpenter Hall (walk-up only) from 9-11 a.m. or 2-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9-11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. You will need to provide your Cornell ID to pick up a test kit. Learn more about symptomatic testing and saliva sample drop-off locations.

All health and safety requirements in place to combat the spread of COVID-19 can be found on the university’s COVID-19 Response website. For more information regarding the NY HERO Act and airborne disease mitigation, please review the university’s Airborne Infectious Agents plan.
